Santam has a unique opportunity for a Business Analyst for the Process Automation environment. The Process Automation team focuses on Robotic Process Automation for automating mundane repetitive processes and Decision Automation for automating expert human decision-making using AI.
A dedicated business analyst for the Specialist Business division and subsidiaries is required to engage with SBU Heads, SBU Managers, the Specialist Business executives, and the automation developers. The role of identifying high value automatable processes across these Specialist Business divisions will ensure that these businesses continue to improve efficiency through the automation of repetitive processes, complex processes and processes that require a high degree of accuracy. The role needs to be executed by a skillset that understands which processes are suited for automation and are deployable across multiple entities and divisions.
Your Role
The Specialist Business Automation Team is responsible to deliver solutions to the Santam Specialist Business Group.
The Business Analyst will formulate, manage, and prioritise Automation opportunities from business, as well as engage with Specialist Business Staff & Specialist Business Executives.

- The Business Analyst for Process Automation is accountable and/or responsible for the following:
Engagement:
- Engage with SBU Heads and managers to identify at a high-level potential area for automation across the specialist business divisions.
- Work with Project Managers and Team Leaders for scheduling, prioritisation, planning and execution
- Setting up structures for engaging with business managers and key stakeholders to identify high value / high ROI automation opportunities
- Bi-monthly executive reporting of project status – delivery vs backlog, funding applied, funding required for next quarter.
- Drafting a 12-month project portfolio of process automation initiatives and assign priorities in conjunction with the head of Niche, the head of Niche Finance Shared Services, the SBU Heads and managers.
- Consult with technical process owners to elucidate the detail for each new initiative, testing the automatability against the software supplier guidelines for automation
Specifications:
- Documenting of initiatives in the Process Definition Document (PDD) for consumption by developers and testers.
- Engaging with process owners and application owners to understand the business processes.
- Analyse and decompose relevant business processes and understand the impact on business and end users
Manage Opportunities:
- Tracking benefits of the previously delivered projects (value to the business)
- Provide mentorship and leadership to team members and inspire a high-performance team
Qualifications and experiences
- Experience engagement with Senior Management
- Tracking of benefits
- Formulation of business cases
- Business Administration degree, Business Analyst Certification, Lean Six Sigma or Process/ Operational Excellence exposure
- 5 years of business analysis experience
- Exposure to process optimisation and Cognitive Automation is advantageous.
- Requirements elicitation, workshop facilitation, conducting demo’s and communication with stakeholders at different levels of the organization
